ERYE extendable dining tables

An extendable table stays round for everyday meals and turns oval for a dinner party. On the butterfly models the leaf folds under the top, and you lift it into place instead of fetching it from a closet, taking a 42-inch table to 54 inches. Other 42-inch tables open to 56, and the 47-inch tables take a 16-inch leaf and reach 63.

Four people sit around the round top and six once the leaf is in. The tables stand 30 inches high. Their X-shaped bases and cross-braced legs sit toward the middle, so chairs slide in around the curve without meeting a corner leg. Each top shows its own grain and color, and most are rated for 300 pounds on the top.

Questions about ERYE extendable dining tables

Measure the room with the table at full length, since that is the size you need on the busiest night. Add the depth of a pulled-out chair on every side, and make sure a door or a cabinet can still open. The round top alone needs far less.

Slide the two halves of the top apart, unfold the leaf from underneath and set it flat in the gap, then close the halves against it. To go back to round, reverse the steps and fold the leaf away under the top until the next dinner.

Hold the chairs against the table height of 30 inches, and see that the arms of armchairs pass under the top. Armless chairs tuck in around a round top more easily, and with the leaf in, a fifth and sixth chair go at the two ends.
